Addiction Treatment in Military & Veteran Culture Specialty Webinar Series
The Association for Addiction Professionals launches a 6 part specialty webinar training series focused on addiction treatment in Military & Veteran Culture. The first webinar, Supporting Those Who Served: Substance Use and Comprehensive Mental Health for Military Affiliated Populations takes place on Saturday, 8/24. Participants may attend one or multiple webinars in this series. Those who successfully attend the full webinar series and pass all six CE quizzes for this six-part series will be eligible to apply for the Certificate of Achievement for Addiction Treatment in Military & Veteran Culture. Martinsburg VA Mental Health Summit

Free Arts Workshop for Active Adults
ATTENTION ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 65! Are you looking for fun opportunities to socialize in your community? The Hylton Performing Arts Center is part of a collaboration that has received a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant that is supporting a series of free 10-week arts engagement workshops on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from September 3 to November 7, 2019. Participants who complete the workshop series will receive vouchers for free Hylton Center tickets to select performances. Whether you plan to transition from military service in 20 years or 2 days, the Women’s Veterans Career and Transitioning Seminar will help you plan your transition. The Seminar will also host a panel of pro-military civilian employers that will engage in a question and answer session designed to discuss relevant issues in today’s talent acquisition industry. Vietnam Veteran Pinning Ceremony & Blue Water Navy Resource Fair – Aug 16
The Office of Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton will be hosting a Vietnam Veteran Pinning Ceremony and a Resource Fair for Vietnam Veterans. Though the fair is geared to assist all Vietnam Veterans, recent changes to federal law which allow “Blue Water Navy” Vietnam Veterans to file claims related to Agent Orange exposure will be a specific focus area for the fair. The event will take place at the Purcellville Baptist Church, in Purcellville, VA on Friday, August 16th from 10am-2pm. The pinning ceremony will take place between 10am-10:30am with the resource fair to follow directly afterward.
