This year's Martinsburg VA Medial Center Mental Health Summit will take place in Shepherdstown, WV on Tuesday, August 21 from 8:30am - 3:30pm. This is a free event and open to the public. RSVP required. There is also table space available to organizations who would like to display program information at the event.

VET Center Registration & Referral at the Library

Mondays through September at the Gaithersburg and Germantown Libraries the Silver Spring VET Center will hold walk in times for referrals and to get connected to the Vet Center and VA services. VET Centers provide quality readjustment counseling in a caring manner. The staff understands and appreciates Veterans' war experiences while assisting them and their family members toward a successful post-war adjustment in or near their community. Services are free to eligible veterans and their families.

Mindful Resilience Training for Trauma Recovery – July 13-15

Veterans Yoga Project will be holding a Mindful Resilience Training for Trauma Recovery workshop July 13-15 in Arlington, VA to teach yoga instructors or mental health clinicians Mindful Resilience, an evidence-informed, clinically-tested yoga program that was developed specifically for veterans recovering from posttraumatic stress and other psychological difficulties. Standard registration is $425. But they have scholarships available for active duty and veterans.

Veterans Resource & Recognition Day in Frederick

Come out to this year's Frederick Veterans Resource & Recognition Day on Wednesday, July 11th from 9:00am -2:00pm. The event is being held at the Frederick Senior Center and will feature veteran resources, lunch and Keynote speaker The Honorable George Owings, III - Maryland Secretary of Veteran Affairs. This is a free event. This event is in collaboration with the Frederick County Veteran's Engagement Board (CVEB).

Telehealth for Veterans and their Families

The Steven A. Cohen Military and Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring launches their new Telehealth program for veterans and their families. Telehealth provides mental health care to clients through the use of technology such as computer, tablet and/or phone. Any services that are available in person at a Cohen Clinic are also available via telehealth as deemed appropriate. Appointments available.

May Military Respite Day – May 19

Easterseals will be holding their May Military Respite Day on Saturday, May 19 for children with disabilities or special needs and their siblings. Open to veterans and military families. No cost. Child care provided. Free parking onsite and metro accessible. Registration required.

Warrior Herd Gold Star Kids Camp – Jul 30-Aug 3

Project Horse Empowerment Center's Warrior Herd program will be holding a Gold Star Kids Summer Camp July 30-August 3. This camp is where kids develop coping skills through play with horses, expressive arts, games, crafts & team building! Thanks to a grant from VetsAid and a donation from Lockheed Martin – participation is 100% free! At Project Horse, kids connect in a very real way with others, with endless opportunities to build confidence, de-stress, and have a unique and memorable summer experience. Participants become centered in the natural world, they forge friendships with both horses and peers, learn horse handling and training skills, create and play games, practice teamwork and leadership, improve communication skills, and much more!
