On Friday, May 17th Join the Armed Services Arts Partnership's Comedy Bootcamp alumni at the Torpedo Factory Art Center as our veterans, service members, and military family members share jokes about the military, veteran, and human experience. On Saturday, May 18th celebrate the latest group of ASAP graduates at the Operation Improv Graduation Show.

Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket Graduation – May 23

You are cordially invited to the Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket Graduation on Thursday, May 23 from 2 - 3:30 pm at the Fairfax County Courthouse. This is an inspiring event that demonstrates the dedication and transformation that these veterans have made while int he Veteran Treatment Docket Program.

DC Veterans Roundtable – May 23

This event connects the District's veterans with information, resources, and organizations that may be beneficial to a successful military transition. The event consists of an informal discussion which revolves around varying topics including housing, employment, healthcare, and legal services. Upon the conclusion of the discussion, any resource providers in attendance offer feedback on any topics discussed or how they can assist the veteran or their family in a positive capacity.

Become a Mentor for TAPS

500 current and former members of the military are needed to mentor children of the fallen at TAPS 25th Annual National military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp. This year's seminar and camp will be held May 24-27, 2019 in Arlington VA but mentors are needed now to sign up and participate. As a mentor, you'll be a buddy to a brave child throughout the event as they share and connect with other surviving kids and learn how to honor their loved ones. You may do art projects and play silly games. You may throw footballs and cheer them on in relays. You'll definitely create lasting memories and feel pride in yourself for the work you've done. Sign up today!

Maryland’s Commitment To Veterans Southern MD Conference

Join Maryland's Commitment to Veterans (MCV) and the team from Melwood Veteran Services' Operation Tohidu for this year's MCV Southern Maryland Conference. This year’s Conference will cover several topics concerning veteran behavioral health from various perspectives. Lunch will be provided, and an additional 5.75 Continuing Education Units will be available to all attendees who indicate this on the eventbrite registration. This event is being held at the Operation Tohidu Retreat grounds. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the facility. Wednesday, May 15th from 8:00AM - 4:00PM. The event is free but registration is required.

Virginia Women Veterans Summit

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services in partnership with statewide partners and Cox Communications will host the 2019 Virginia Women Veterans Summit to be held Thursday, May 16th and Friday, May 17th, 2019 in Hampton, VA. Registration is open.

Career Transition Education thru VEI Vetworking

Launched in 2013, the NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative (VEI) connects Veterans and military spouses to employment opportunities and provides support to member companies in their efforts to recruit, hire, train and retain qualified Veteran and military spouse employees. The next cohort of the VEI Vetworking for Military, Veterans and Spouses will be on May 23 and May 30th. The program is broken down into two sessions of three hours each. Each session runs from 5-8 pm and dinner is provided. There is a maximum of 25 per cohort and once signed up you must commit to attending both sessions. Registration is open now.

Survivors of Suicide Attempt Support Group

June 9th through August 4th at EveryMind in Rockville, MD. This 8 week closed group will be co-facilitated by two leaders trained in the Didi Hirsch support group model.
