Bunker Labs free program is in its fourth national cohort in continued partnership with WeWork, and is now accepting applicants for their latest Veterans in Residence cohort. All military family members and veterans are encouraged to apply to their nearest participating city.

Have you always wanted to try the ukulele? Musicians of all skill levels are invited to try one of ours in these four workshops with Glen McCarthy, guitar instructor at the Mason Community Arts Academy and at George Mason University, who has shared his expertise with the community during Veterans Day events at the Hylton Center.

2nd Annual Bomb Suit Run & Family 5k

GCO & the EOD Warrior Foundation is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Bomb Suit Run and Family 5K on March 28th 2019 at Woodgrove High School, in Purcellville, VA. This includes a Family, Stroller, and Service Dog Friendly 5k. The event will start with a family friendly 5K run to honor fallen EOD warriors, followed by the World Record attempt for the fastest 1 mile in an EOD bomb suit. Team FASTRAX will be parachuting in an American flag to kick-off the competition. There will also be multiple military demonstrations for runners to enjoy. People can watch and cheer on the Military and First Responder warriors who are competing in the Bomb Suit challenge.

Claims Assistance for Veteran Benefits event

VFW Post 9835 and Hero’s Bridge are sponsoring an opportunity for veterans to receive free claims assistance for their filing VA Claims. Veterans, active duty military and their family members who desire help to prepare claims to the VA, to follow-up on claims processing or to submit appeals are encouraged to make an appointment on Wednesday, March 18.

A Veterans Claims Clinic & Resource Fair will be held at Carroll Community College on Thursday, March 19, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

American Red Cross in the National Capital Region is partnering with ServingTogether, a program of EveryMind to offer a Mental Health First Aid: Military and Veteran Module 8 hour course.  If you a veteran or an individual working with veterans in our community this is the training for you.

The Blue Star Families annual Military Family Lifestyle Survey results, in collaboration with Syracuse University’s Institute for Veteran and Military Families , are here! With over 11,000 respondents including service members, veterans, National Guard, Reserve and their families, the #BSFSurvey received the highest response rate since its establishment in 2009! The largest survey of its kind, it is used by policymakers in D.C. and across the country to learn about and meet the most pressing needs of military families like yours.

Melwood Veteran Services Open House – April 1

Join Melwood Veterans Services' Operation Tohidu for an open house and tour on Wednesday April 1st.  They are offering two opportunities to tour their facility in Nanjemoy, MD and the chance to talk with staff and veterans that have attended the program.
