  • VEI VETWORKING Program – March 29 & April 5

    The Northern Virginia Technology Council’s Veteran Employment Initiative offers a VETWORKING program which provides Veteran and military spouse jobseekers with career transition education and personal growth experiences to succeed in seeking civilian employment. The next session will be held on March 29 & April 5 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm for each session at The MITRE Corporation at 1550 Westbranch Dr. McLean, VA.

  • Veterans and Spouses receive priority for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

    Eligible veterans and their spouses will receive priority for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Services, provided through the SkillSource Group, Inc. and its multiple partners. Local veterans can receive individualized career counseling, including training, job search assistance and small business development. Services are designed to help build the skills employers are looking for.

  • APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR FACILITY DOGS FROM HERO DOGS, INC.

    Hero Dogs currently has facility dogs for placement to a qualified clinician or staff member in a residential or health care setting. Facility dogs “work” full-time at the facility under the care and supervision of a staff member to achieve specific treatment or program goals through animal-assisted therapy.

  • Washington DC Hiring Expo with the Washington Wizards

    U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring our Heroes will be holding a Military Hiring Fair and Networking Reception for service members, veterans, and military spouses will take place on March 14 & 15.

  • Commission on Veterans Affairs Honors Black History Month

    The next meeting of the Montgomery County Commission on Veteran Affairs is February 21st at 6pm. Meetings are open to the public.

  • Ruck to Remember’s 60 to 60 – May 27

    6th Annual Ruck to Remember’s 60 to 60 will be held on Saturday, May 27. Registration is now open. 60 to 60 is a 60-mile hike/ruck also known as a mission to honor our fallen and empower those still coming home wearing the wounds of war. More then an event – Every step will remind you of why you are there as you focus on Honoring, Empowering and Remembering our War fighters both past and present. Open to both Civilians and Veterans – this mission will cement a level of camaraderie so deep you will create friendships that will last a life time.

  • Applications Being Accepted for ASAP’s Storytelling

    Armed Services Art Partnership has partnered with Story District to offer a free storytelling class for veterans, service members, military families, and caregivers. Turn good stories into great performances in this five-week Storytelling 101 course. Registration required.

  • DC VA Winterhaven Sat Jan 28

    The annual Winterhaven Homeless Veterans Stand Down is scheduled for Saturday January 28th at the Washington DC VA Medical Center from 9am to 2pm.

  • Montgomery County Veterans Collaborative Meeting Jan 18th

    Please join us for the next meeting of the Montgomery County Veterans Collaborative on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 2-4pm. The focus of of the collaborative meeting is to bring together community partners to share resources, events, and information relevant to military, veterans and their families. No registration required.

  • Transportation Network Directory for People with Disabilities & Adults 50+

    The Montgomery County Commission on People with Disabilities and Commission on Veterans Affairs has completed the Transportation Network Directory for People with Disabilities & Adults 50+ website. The website contains information about private and public transportation. It also includes information on reduced fees on Metro for Veterans with a disability.
