Virginia DMV Mobile Customer Service Centers

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile customer service centers, called DMV 2 Go, are traveling across the state providing services to military members, veterans, and their families. Each full service office provides all DMV transactions. DMV staff can assist with services specific to veterans including applying for the Virginia veterans ID card. DMV also offers more than 30 military-themed license plates.

Golf Outing Supporting Veterans – September 19

The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2016 golf outing at Laurel Hill Golf Club inviting all golfers and businesses to "Get Teed Off" for veterans.

Veteran Open Mic Night

The Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) and Dog Tag Bakery are excited to continue with their monthly open mic for veterans, service members, and military family members. The next open mic will exclusively feature comedians and musicians from the military community, and is scheduled for 7PM on Thursday, September 22nd at Dog Tag Bakery (3206 Grace Street Northwest, Washington, DC). General admission tickets are $10, will be limited to the first 60 guests who purchase tickets, and can be reserved at classy.org/dogtagasap.

Troops Discharged for Misconduct at Greater Risk of Homelessness

Researchers with the Veterans Affairs Salt Lake City Health Care System have recently found that those troops who have been discharged for misconduct are at a higher risk, nearly five times, of homelessness than those with normal separations.
