Raise the Region Gala – Opportunity for Military and Veterans!
The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia has received a generous donor that has provided a table for guests who are serving or who have served in the military to attend the annual Raise the Region Gala on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 6:30 – 10:00 pm at the Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner.
USO Metro Holiday Programs 2018
USO-Metro is already preparing for the 2018 Holiday Season! This is a courtesy message to give you a *SNEAK PEEK* at the 2018 Holiday Program opportunities as registration will be opening in early October. The programs are available to active duty service members, E-1 to E-6. Registration opens October 9, 2018, deadline to register is October 16, 2018.
Mission: Healthy Relationships Couples Workshop – Nov 16-18
Virginia Department of Veteran Services - Virginia Veteran and Family Support has an upcoming marriage/relationship enrichment workshop for veteran couples being held in Leesburg this November. They are actively looking for couples to join the workshop.
Warriors To Workforce – Oct 8 & 9
The American Freedom Foundation will host Warriors To The Workforce Washington (WTTW) presented by GES (Global Experience Specialist) in association with Easter Seals' Veteran Staffing Network and in conjunction with the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition 2018 on October 8 - 9, 2018 in Washington, DC. Booth #261. This one of a kind event is part of the American Freedom Foundation’s nationwide initiative to help our Veterans, transitioning military service members and military spouses find meaningful employment.
VA Claims Clinic in Frederick
There will be a VA Claims Clinic on October 5th from 9AM to 3PM at the Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion in Frederick, MD. Come out to a Town Hall meeting with Baltimore Regional Office Leadership from 11:00am - 12:00pm followed by an Appeals 101 Presentation from 1:00-2:00 PM. VA Claims Processors will be on site throughout the day to assist in filing a claim.
Conquering PTSD Event and Ride
Join American Heroes Motorcycle Association in partnership with Operation Engage America for a Conquering PTSD Event and Ride on Saturday, October 20th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Boonsboro, MD. This is a free event for Veterans, Military, First Responders & their families. Held at Shafter Mark, Main Street, Boonsboro MD.
Martinsburg Veterans Day Parade
The Four State Community Veterans Engagement Board cordially invites you to participate in the Inaugural Veterans Day Parade in Martinsburg Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
Big Sonia Film Screening & Veteran Issues Panel Discussion – Oct 9
The feature documentary BIG SONIA, will have a film screening at the Library of Congress on Oct 9. There will be a panel discussion following the film which include a representative from Elizabeth Dole Foundation / Hidden Heroes and along with the filmmaker, Leah Warshawski, who directed the film and is the granddaughter of Sonia, will be there for Q/A as well.
Applications Being Accepted for The Platoon 22 Horse Experience
Applications are now being accepted for the November 2- November 4th Platoon 22 Horse Experience Program. The Platoon 22 Horse Experience is designed to provide Warriors the opportunity to become one with nature, network with other Warriors experiencing similar issues, PTS/TBI and most importantly, to connect with their own thoughts and emotions. No prior horse experience is necessary, just a willingness to feel better!
