2020 6th Annual HUDVAG Turkey & ‘Fix-ins’ Giveaway
The past few months have been particularly devastating for veterans transitioning from homelessness as several of our veterans, and their family members, are now unemployed as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Access Housing, Inc.(Southeast Veterans Service Center), HUD Veterans Affinity Group (VAG), and our community partners will be collecting Turkeys & ‘Fix-Ins’, in support of the 6th Annual Turkey & ‘Fix-Ins’ Giveaway for our formerly homeless veterans, and their families, who are transitioning from homelessness to stable housing beginning Monday, November 9, 2020, through Friday, November 20, 2020

Welcome to the newsletter of Serving Together for the celebration of Veteran’s Day! Serving Together is a private, non-profit organization serving veterans, service members, and their families in the Washington DC area and uses technology and its partner network to guide veterans and their families to the most appropriate services and resources available. Beyond what we do, we wanted to focus today on delivering information to everyone about specific events related to Veteran’s Day happening in the DMV area. Free Virtual Expungement Clinic
Cornerstone Montgomery and Maryland Legal Aid will be hosting a virtual expungement clinic this Friday, 11/6, from 9:30 am to 2:45 pm. Community members are invited to reserve a time to meet with legal aid staff and learn about criminal record expungement. Financially eligible attendees may be able to have their records expunged.
USO Mastering Civilian Employment Event
An event for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses preparing for their next opportunity. Resume Development, Growing Your Network, Interview Tips, Recruiter Perspectives. Presented by USO Metro Washington-Baltimore with the Virginia Department of Veteran Services. Open to all Active Duty, Reserve & National Guard & their Spouses.
VAMC 12th Annual HeroHaven Homeless Veterans Stand Down
All HeroHaven 2020 activities will be held outside at the front entrance of the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, bldg. 500. There are no inside activities. The goal is for homeless Veterans to STOP at the Stand Down areas, they will DROP off information/resources and items to them and the Veteran will ROLL out.
Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative: MINDFULNESS AND STRESS REDUCTION
This two-session class will examine the use of several powerful tools, including Mindfulness Meditation, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and the Heart Coherence procedure from the HeartMath Institute. These techniques aim to reduce components of debilitating stress.
Virtual Women Veterans Peer Support Groups
Virtual Women Veterans Peer Support Groups foster support for their members by encouraging self- reliance, self- advocacy, and progression towards behavioral health wellness goals. They provide a relaxed and confidential in which to share past military and current transitional experiences with other veterans to effectively address the needs of the Veteran, National Guard, and Reservist communities.
