ABC’s of Small Business Ownership – January 14

Wondering how to start your own business after you transition from Active Duty service? Unsure what it takes to be an entrepreneur? Where do you find funding? In partnership with the CBP Women's Business Center the USO-Metro's Project Next S.T.E.P is hosting a seminar on the ABC's of Small Business Ownership. These topics and others will be addressed. Open to Transitioning Service Members & Spouses. Tuesday, January 14 from 6:00pm - 8:30pm at the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir.

Veteran Apprenticeship Opportunities

Are you a veteran interested in apprenticeships? The office of Washington DC Apprenticeship Information and training will host information sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays (beginning 12/2/19) for interested veterans to learn more about apprenticeship opportunities and to sign up. VetSuccess Immersion Academy Deadline Dec 2nd

To help fill the skills gap, the SANS Institute created the SANS CyberTalent Immersion Academy, an intensive, accelerated training program that provides SANS world class training and GIAC certifications to quickly and effectively launch careers in cybersecurity. SANS CyberTalent Immersion Academies are 100% scholarship-based and no cost to participants. Applications for the SANS VetSuccess Immersion Academy Reston 2020 Session are being accepted through December 2, 2019.

Project Next S.T.E.P. Transition Program

The USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore is now accepting applications for the next CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate in Routing and Switching Course for transitioning service members and active duty spouses. Applications must be completed and submitted by 3:00pm on Decemeber 6th.

Alarm.com G.R.I.T. Apprenticeship Program

Check out this new and ground-breaking technology apprenticeship opportunity targeted to Veterans and military spouses at Alarm.com.  The NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative is a partner with the Northern Virginia Community College working under a GO Virginia grant on this program and it includes full pay and benefits from day 1- no experience is required for either position but candidates will be assessed for aptitude.  Note that the deadline for submissions is 1 December 2019.

DC Hires Vets Event Nov 15

The DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs and the DC National Guard on Friday, November 15, 2019 will host its third DC Hires Vets event offering veterans and veteran spouses the opportunity to connect with District and Federal agencies as well as private sector companies. Select participating agencies will conduct interviews and make contingent job offers on-the-spot.
