VA Women’s Health Transition Training

The VA has launched a pilot Women's Health TAP program and will offer courses on a variety of dates at both the Pentagon and Joint Base Andrews. The women veteran-led training will cover transformed culture of the VA for women, women's mental health & health care at the VA, eligibility and enrollment and more. Servicewomen planning to transition to Civilian or Reserve/National Guard status within the next year are encouraged to attend.

Capital One Virginia Military Dependent Scholarship

The Capital One Military Dependent Scholarship is designed to aid and honor a talented high school senior that is the dependent of an active duty Servicemember, or Servicemember in the Reserves or National Guard (residing or resident of Virginia). $5,000 for college tuition will be awarded to a student for their academic excellence, values, actions and leadership within their community. Application deadline: April 30, 2019.

Expungement Information Session

The Loudoun Reentry Advisory Council and Legal Services of Northern Virginia are holding a free Expungement Information Session on February 21st from 10 AM to 12 PM. Open to everyone facing barriers to getting a job or career advancement because of their criminal charges. Registration is required. Deadline to register: February 15th.

Boots to Business Reboot Classes in Frederick Dec 12th & 13th

This two-day in-person course is being offered in Frederick MD on December 12 & 13. This Boots to Business Reboot course is focused on Agribusiness and provides participants with an overview of business fundamentals, while introducing techniques for evaluating the feasibility of business concepts. Reboot is open to all members of the military community (this includes all-era Veterans, active duty, National Guard and Reserve, and military spouses and family members).

The Mid-Atlantic ADA Center and TransCen, Inc. present and upcoming webinar on Welcoming Veterans with Disabilities into the Workplace. Wednesday, November 7 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM Eastern. This session is designed to educate the business community about veterans with disabilities who are transitioning to the workplace. Participants will explore how to create a welcoming environment for veterans with disabilities and learn about the unique aspects of military culture. The presenters will discuss attitudes and behaviors that can affect veterans with disabilities, and examine how that might impact employee engagement in the business culture.

Healing Waters Frederick Event Oct 23rd

Healing Waters is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active service members and veterans through fly fishing and associated activities.
