Veteran Improv Workshop

Introductory Improv for Military Veterans. Whether you have always wanted to step onstage and make an audience laugh, or the thought of speaking in public terrifies you; this class is for you. You will learn how to use improv to focus on using communication, collaboration, trust and acceptance as the central tools to generate creativity. Six Thursday evening sessions begin starting 9/19 from 7:00-9:00PM. This class is free to veterans. Registration is required.

Nominations are now being accepted for Women Veterans Interactive's "Sisters in Service" Awards event that will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 7:30 pm. to 11:30 pm. in Falls Church, Virginia. The event is designed to shine the spotlight on and honor women veterans making an impact and substantial contributions to the woman veteran/military community. Deadline for submissions is 9/20/19.

Distinguished Service Awards Accepting Application

The Veterans & Military Business Council has opened Nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Service Awards. Applications accepted until Friday, September 20th. The Event will be held Tuesday, October 22nd 8am at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. Self-nominations are accepted!

Sound the Alarm Volunteer Opportunities

National Capital Region Home Fire Campaign by the Red Cross. The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, and by educating people about home fire safety. The Red Cross has several opportunities to volunteer for this program throughout the National Capital Region. Please come out and join them as they help save lives in our communities.

Interested in helping veterans? Join Hero's Bridge for an informative training to learn how you can make an impact by volunteering for their Battle Buddy Program. Saturday, September 21st from 10am-12pm. RSVP requested.

Acting Ensemble Workshop for Veterans

This education program workshop is FREE for US veterans. Participants should be men and women, age 20 and over, who are veterans of the United States armed forces. Combat experience not required. Working with CSC Teaching Artists, the ensemble will explore Shakespeare's text for a specific theme related to their own stories of military service. This multi-week program will culminate in a performance for friends, family, and invited guests. No experience required!

Infinity Speaks Veteran Resource Day

September 27th 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the VFW Morningside 6527 in Morningside, MD. Resources include VBA Claims assistance, suicide prevention, minority veteran outreach, transitional housing assistance, employment assistance and more.

2019 Virginia Veterans & Military Affairs Conference

HillVets Lead Program Accepting Applications

HillVets LEAD. the premier public policy and leadership program for veterans in the United States is looking for dedicated individuals looking to spend up to 3 hours a week for 12 weeks improving their skills alongside some of our Nation’s most sought after leaders. Individuals will join a lifelong “fireteam” of 6 who will push each other to success.  The program is accepting applications for participation now thru August 30, 2019.

Volunteers Needed for Capital Caring

Want to make a difference? The Capital Caring Volunteer Team is looking for volunteers to visit military service members who are receiving hospice services and conduct small, informal ceremonies for them. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for veterans and active duty service members looking to help fellow veterans.
