ASAP & The Sanctuaries: Art With Purpose – May 5

ASAP and The Sanctuaries are partnering to offer a workshop that will empower veteran artists to connect their artmaking with the social causes that affect them so they can “make art with purpose.” Saturday May 5 from 10 am - 4 pm at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in DC.

The DC, Maryland, and Virginia Elizabeth Dole Foundation Fellows and DC Mayor's Office of Veteran Affairs have partnered to host a military and veteran caregiver roundtable in DC on May 22. They are looking to find caregivers to participate. Please share this through your networks as well!

Warrior Herd Gold Star Kids Camp – Jul 30-Aug 3

Project Horse Empowerment Center's Warrior Herd program will be holding a Gold Star Kids Summer Camp July 30-August 3. This camp is where kids develop coping skills through play with horses, expressive arts, games, crafts & team building! Thanks to a grant from VetsAid and a donation from Lockheed Martin – participation is 100% free! At Project Horse, kids connect in a very real way with others, with endless opportunities to build confidence, de-stress, and have a unique and memorable summer experience. Participants become centered in the natural world, they forge friendships with both horses and peers, learn horse handling and training skills, create and play games, practice teamwork and leadership, improve communication skills, and much more! Project Management Professional for Transitioning Service Members and Military Spouses

Project Next S.T.E.P. is now accepting applications for the Project Management Professional Program that will begin on May 29th and end on July 21. With classes Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6-9:30 as well as Saturday mornings from 9-12 at USO Metro - Fort Belvoir. To qualify you must be a transitioning service member or an active duty spouse! Applications due May 15 at noon.

Sound the Alarm Signature Event – Apr 28

This is going to be a big event with a goal of 1,000 fire alarms installed.   Red Cross will be partnering with Prince George’s County FD, County Leaders, Red Cross national leaders, corporate leaders, and MD political leaders.  This is going to be a great half day volunteer event with the chance to literally save lives!

Fort Belvoir's ACS/SFL Spring 2018 Career Fair will be Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 9:00 am-2:00 pm at Fort Belvoir Community Center (10300 Taylor Road, Ft Belvoir VA 22060). Travis Manion Character Does Matter Presentation

Join The Travis Manion Foundation and The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals for an interactive discussion about character. Character Does Matter Mentors develop character and leadership skills in young adults. Grounded in the evidence-based field of Positive Psychology, they use a strengths-based approach to develop character traits in the next generation through a combination of informal discussions and activity-based learning. Open to Kids ages 11-20. Saturday, April 28th from 10:00-11:00am. Registration is required.
