COVID-19 Military Support Initiative – Upcoming Town Hall Meetings
Join Defense Communities upcoming Virtual Town Hall meetings! The Association of Defense Communities (ADC), Blue Star Families, and participants of the White Oak Collaborative are joining forces to create a united, national platform for sharing information, maintaining engagement, developing best practices and policy approaches to ensure our military receives the support it deserves. The COVID-19 Military Support Initiative (CMSI) will provide resources and expertise to support communities, states and military families through this crisis.

The Hope For the Warriors 2020 Scholarship Application Period is now OPEN through May 31, 2020. The Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship Program identifies, recognizes, and rewards post-9/11 spouses/caregivers for their strength, fidelity, and resolve despite adversity. Scholarships aid in continued education at a reputable, accredited university, college, or trade school for spouses/caregivers as they assume critical roles in the financial well being of their families.
Analyzing the Impact of COVID-19 on the Veteran Community
The Bob Woodruff Foundation has published an original research paper, Veterans and COVID-19: Projecting the Economic, Social, and Mental Health Needs of America’s Veterans, analyzing the specific needs of the veteran community related to the coronavirus. This paper details the potential acute and long-term impacts for our veterans including mental health challenges, economic concerns, and changes in the veteran-serving organization landscape.
Maryland’s Commitment to Veterans Operation Roll Call
Maryland's Commitment to Veterans is offering a new program called Operation Roll Call. The veteran will need to call the MCV 24/7 Hotline at 1/877-770-4801 to request to be a part of MCV Operation Roll Call. Once the veteran has completed registration, the RRC will call to check in on the veteran once a week or once every two weeks (whichever the veteran chooses).

They can assist in a wide range of legal issues and concerns.
Financial Empowerment Center Virtual Courses
Concerned about your finances during COVID-19? The Financial Empowerment Center will be offering several virtual workshops to help cope financially during this challenging time. The FEC also provides Financial Coaching sessions available in English and Spanish and can help clients to re-organize their finances and budget during this crisis. Coaching can be provided over the phone or with a video conference. Services are free & open to the entire community.
