EveryMind’s ServingTogether Prepares to Launch Into Central Maryland

Thanks to the support of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, EveryMind’s ServingTogether is pleased to announce that our care-coordination services and unique collaborative model are expanding into Baltimore and the Central Maryland region this Spring. In preparation for our launch into Central Maryland - including Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County, and Howard County – EveryMind will host a virtual strategy session on March 9th led by ServingTogether's new Program Manager, Katie Kilby.

Military Monday: Am I Prepared…What’s Next?

Join Air Force veteran and engineering specialist Duane McHenry as he discusses entry into the new job market, assessing a potential employee’s skills, job objectives, networking abilities and salary negotiations. During the discussion he will address how well-prepared veteran and military servicemembers are for finding employment in the new job market of today and tomorrow and how you can use leadership skills developed in the military to make you a stronger candidate than most civilians.

Brookings: The Needs of Women Veterans Event

On March 12, Wounded Warrior Project will join Foreign Policy at Brookings to share data and insights gathered through engagements with nearly 5,000 female service veterans, as part of their Women Warrior Initiative. Representative Julia Brownley, chairwoman of the United States Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Health, will join Brookings Senior Fellow Michael O'Hanlon in a conversation on issues facing women veterans in the 117th Congress. Then, subject matter experts will discuss the unique needs facing women veterans regarding military to civilian transitions, access to care, mental health resources, military sexual trauma, and financial wellness.

Janene McGee Champion for Change Award

In spring 2020, Mecklenburg County, the state of North Carolina, and the boarder veteran community lost fellow veteran and passionate advocate Janene McGee. In addition to leading the county Veteran Services Office team, Janene also championed several collaboratives addressing homelessness and suicide prevention. In honor of Janene’s incomparable spirit and advocacy for the military connected community, Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families has created a scholarship to support professional development opportunities for AmericaServes providers. 

DOG TAG FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Dog Tag’s innovative approach consists of a five-month fellowship program that combines equal parts classroom, bakery, community, and wellbeing. Dog Tag Fellows earn a Georgetown University certificate of business administration in our classroom space; bring their coursework to life by learning the ins and outs of running a successful business in the bakery; build community with each other, and enhance their wellbeing by committing time to introspection and personal growth.

Substance Abuse Webinar

Have you found yourself struggling to find ways to cope with stress? Especially in the mist of a pandemic... In this episode of the Conversations with Caregivers webinar series, Lyndsay Tkach and Jennifer Mackinday tackle substance use and how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the perception of substance use. Through this discussion, we want you to be able to better understand some of the reasons for substance use, how it has become normalized in times of stress, as well as resources you can reach to if you are struggling with substance use.
