Telehealth for Veterans and their Families

The Steven A. Cohen Military and Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring launches their new Telehealth program for veterans and their families. Telehealth provides mental health care to clients through the use of technology such as computer, tablet and/or phone. Any services that are available in person at a Cohen Clinic are also available via telehealth as deemed appropriate. Appointments available.

Veterans Open Mic May 22nd

Veterans and their families deal with a range of experiences, both when they serve and after they leave the military. Join us on May 22 at 6pm for an open mic that uses the tools of performance art such as poetry, comedy, and storytelling to address these complicated issues and to help us gain insight into veterans’ lives and experiences. The event will be held at New Spire Spaces at 115 E Church St, Frederick MD. Registration is required to attend and/or to perform.

TAPS seeking military and veterans mentors for Memorial Day Weekend

From May 25-28, TAPS will hold its 24th National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp (GGC) in Arlington. They are seeking service members and veterans to change the life of surviving military children by volunteering for the weekend as a military mentor.

Leggett to Dedicate Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at Memorial Plaza on May 21

County Executive Ike Leggett, local officials and Vietnam War veterans will dedicate the Montgomery County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Monday, May 21, at 1 p.m., at Memorial Plaza, which is located at the Government Complex Center Terrace, 101 Monroe Street, in Rockville. 

Expungement Clinic in Loudoun County

Expungement Clinic co sponsored by Loudoun Workforce Resource Center and Legal Services of Northern Virginia. May 23, 2018. 2 SESSIONS: 10AM & 12PM. Rust Library in Leesburg VA. The clinic is open to everyone, including veterans, who are facing barriers to getting a job or career advancement because of their criminal record. Registration is required.

Project Management Professional for Transitioning Service Members and Military Spouses

Project Next S.T.E.P. is now accepting applications for the Project Management Professional Program that will begin on May 29th and end on July 21. With classes Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6-9:30 as well as Saturday mornings from 9-12 at USO Metro - Fort Belvoir. To qualify you must be a transitioning service member or an active duty spouse! Applications due May 15 at noon.

Travis Manion Character Does Matter Presentation

Join The Travis Manion Foundation and The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals for an interactive discussion about character. Character Does Matter Mentors develop character and leadership skills in young adults. Grounded in the evidence-based field of Positive Psychology, they use a strengths-based approach to develop character traits in the next generation through a combination of informal discussions and activity-based learning. Open to Kids ages 11-20. Saturday, April 28th from 10:00-11:00am. Registration is required.
