VET Center Registration & Referral at the Library

Mondays through September at the Gaithersburg and Germantown Libraries the Silver Spring VET Center will hold walk in times for referrals and to get connected to the Vet Center and VA services. VET Centers provide quality readjustment counseling in a caring manner. The staff understands and appreciates Veterans' war experiences while assisting them and their family members toward a successful post-war adjustment in or near their community. Services are free to eligible veterans and their families.

Veterans Resource & Recognition Day in Frederick

Come out to this year's Frederick Veterans Resource & Recognition Day on Wednesday, July 11th from 9:00am -2:00pm. The event is being held at the Frederick Senior Center and will feature veteran resources, lunch and Keynote speaker The Honorable George Owings, III - Maryland Secretary of Veteran Affairs. This is a free event. This event is in collaboration with the Frederick County Veteran's Engagement Board (CVEB).

Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes Pack the Park – July 3

Coalition to Salute America's Heroes is teaming up with the Frederick Keys this year to again provide FREE tickets to active duty military, veterans and first responders! Frederick Keys vs. Lynchburg Hillcats at the Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium Date: July 3rd, 2018. Time: Gates open 6pm, game time 7pm.

Garden of Jokes – A Veterans Comedy Show

Up Top Acres and the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) are joining forces once more to host another special Veterans Comedy Show at one of Up Top's rooftop farms. This performance will feature comedians who have graduated from ASAP's Comedy Bootcamp program, the first stand-up comedy class in the country for veterans. The event will provide a platform for veteran comedians to showcase their talents and tell their hilarious stories in front of members of the DC community. Saturday, June 23rd from 7:30-10:00PM. Tickets are $15.

VA Launches Personalized, Proactive, Patient-driven Care

The DC VA Medical Center is holding "Introduction of Whole Health" sessions starting Wednesday, 3/21. Whole Health, also known as “Personalized, Proactive, Patient-driven Care,” is an approach to health care that empowers and equips Veterans to take charge of their health and well-being and to live their life to the fullest. Whole Health includes conventional treatment as well as complimentary approaches that foster self-empowerment, self-healing, and self-care. Upcoming informational sessions dates include 3/21, 3/28, 4/11 and 4/25/18. Registration is required.

VA’s Transition & Care Management (TCM) Program

Virginia DVS available monthly at Rust Library in Leesburg

Virginia Department of Veterans Services will provide monthly drop-in services for Veterans at Rust Library in Leesburg on the Third Tuesday of every month from 10 am - 2 pm. Veterans can learn about the free services provided and get assistance with applying for benefits, intermediary for claims filed, and appeals.
