Fort Belvoir Retiree Appreciation Day – Sept 8
The Fort Belvoir Retiree Appreciation Day will be held on Friday, September 8 from 8 am - 3 pm. There will be a Breakfast, Health & Wellness Fair, & Lunch at the Specker Field House from 8 am - 12:45 pm. And then presentations at the Barden Education Center from 1 - 3 pm. Cake cutting will be held at Fort Belvoir Exchange at 3:30 pm.
Heroes Walk to Fly 5K September 17th
This inspirational 1.5 mile walk and Community Block Party, sponsored by SAIC, welcomes Luke’s Wings’ supporters and beneficiaries to celebrate our wounded service members’ milestones. Starting next to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, walkers will enjoy festivities including breakfast, energy snacks by KIND, a yoga warm-up, live music, t-shirt pick-up and more!
Governor McAuliffe Officially Opens New State Veterans Office In Manassas
Governor Terry McAuliffe today cut the ribbon for the official grand opening of the new Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) office in Manassas. The new office will primarily serve military veterans and their families in Prince William and Fauquier Counties, the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, and other localities in the area.
Ride to Zero – End Veteran Suicide
The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Associations is hosting their first annual Ride to Zero. An annual poker run to end veteran suicide. Saturday, August 26 in Woodstock, MD. Registration is required.

An appreciation event to honor recently returned combat-OEF/OIF/OND/OIR Veterans, active duty service members, their families,as well as, Veterans of all eras. New Property Tax Credit for Some Montgomery County Residents
The new property tax credit provides a tax credit to people over 65 years of age who have lived and owned a dwelling for at least 40 consecutive years, or are retired from one of the U.S. Armed Forces.
