Memorial Day Field of Honor at George C Marshall High School

For Memorial Day weekend, George C. Marshall High School's Class of 2019 will create a Field of Honor in front of the high school along Route 7.  We invite you to support the Field of Honor and the class of 2019 by sponsoring a flag (s) to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military or to recognize the service of a veteran or an active duty service member.

Mental Health First Aid: Military/Veterans

ServingTogether, a program of EveryMind, will be offering two Mental Health First Aid: Military and Veteran Module 8-hour courses in May!  We're partnering with the Prince George's County Government and Frederick Community College to provide these workshop FREE of charge to individuals or organizations working with or supporting the military and veteran community. What started as a mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day has broadened to include more than just our military heroes and more than just the one holiday. Carry The Load works to bring all Americans together to participate in honoring our nation’s heroes every day. Join Carry the Load East Coast Relay Team as they walk through Washington DC, including a walk through Arlington National Cemetery to pay respects. Sunday, May 5 at starting 7:45am.

DC LGBT Veterans Roundtable

The DC Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs (MOVA), in partnership with the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs proudly host The Veterans LGBTQ Roundtable. Tuesday, April 30th from 12:00-2:00 PM. A roundtable event for military veterans who identify as LGBTQ, LGBTQ and other community activists, medical providers, veterans advocates, and allies of the LGBTQ community. The goal of the event is to identify and discuss obstacles faced by members of the LGBTQ veterans community in seeking benefits and services, as well as to hear stories and examples of how such obstacles have been and can be overcome.

We Work Veterans in Residence Launch Party

WeWork and Bunker Labs are excited to launch the WeWork Veterans In Residence program Powered by Bunker Labs, which offers United States military veterans and spouses fully-sponsored workspaces to help entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses. To celebrate, Bunker Labs DC is hosting a launch party "Businesses in Blossom", with special guests to introduce the members of our latest Veterans in Residence tribe who will briefly share their entrepreneurial stories. Year of the Veteran Celebration and Resource Fair

Monday, April 8th 4:00-8:00 PM Howard Community College. Join Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families in celebrating The Year of the Veteran proclamation by our MD Governor with refreshments, music by Voice of Vets, professional attire/suit giveway, and more than 40 government agencies, nonprofits and veteran service organizations that provide services or programs for our veterans and military families. Premier Health Express Urgent Care, an authorized Warrior Centric Health Clinic, will provide medical and dental screenings. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Opioid Epidemic Workshop with Congressman David Trone

A workshop hosted by Congressman David Trone to discuss ow the opioid epidemic has affected residents of the 6th Maryland district and the steps to combat addiction. The workshop will feature a panel discussion of leading experts in the field. There will also be representatives from local and regional organizations who will provide resources and information regarding the opioid epidemic.

The webinar will include a hopeful story of recovery from a suicide attempt survivor and a brief presentation on steps you can take to help someone who may be in distress from a local expert on suicide prevention.
