Free Screening of Superpower Dogs This Weekend

Surf Dog Ricochet and Staff Sergeant Persons B. Griffith IV (Ret) will be traveling from San Diego, CA to Washington DC, MD and VA for June 22nd and 23rd showings of the IMAX film, Superpower Dogs, as well as a free presentation on the “Healing Power of Dogs in the Treatment of PTSD”. There will also be a free showing for the military community and their families. Regular showings requiring paid tickets are an option too. There will be Q&A sessions, and moviegoers can interact with Ricochet before, during and after the film with plenty of photo opportunities. June 22nd Triangle, VA and June 23rd in Washington DC. Independence Day Celebration & Potluck Breakfast

Join the National Cathedral for two veteran focused Independence Day events. Concert of Hope and Healing on Wednesday, July 3rd from 6:30-8:30pm and Midnight Independence Day Pilgrimage Wednesday July 3rd - Thursday July 4th from 11:30pm to 1am.

The Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Governor's Service Awards. The awards recognize Marylanders who have provided significant volunteer contributions to communities around the state and have worked to change Maryland for the better. Comedy Writing Workshop with Carter Bays

Join Armed Services Arts Partnership for an exciting comedy writing workshop with How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) co-creator Carter Bays! Learn how to write a pilot for a television series, from concept to outline to script. Topics will include creating strong characters, crafting a compelling story, and translating it all onto the page. Two sessions available: Saturday, June 22nd from 2-5pm and Sunday, June 23rd from 10am-1pm. Registration is required.

Loudoun County Homeless Services Drop In Center

Beginning May 28th the Loudoun County Drop-In Center will return to its permanent location at the Loudoun Homeless Services Center in Leesburg, VA. Drop-In Services include access to showers and laundry facilities and meals.

Convoy of Hope Community Event

The Convoy of Hope Community event will be held Saturday, June 1 in Woodbridge, VA. Hope Starts Here in your city, your community, your neighborhood. The Convoy of Hope event is just the beginning of a long-lasting movement that has the power to transform people’s lives, inspire compassion and service and bring people and organizations together like never before. This is a collaborative effort to bring hope to a city through free groceries, health screenings, job fairs, family portraits, haircuts, prayer, activities for children and more.

Memorial Day Service at National Cathedral

A National Service Commemorating Memorial Day will take place at the National Cathedral on Sunday, May 26th at 11:15 AM. This services will commemorate the honor and bravery of those who have died serving in our Armed Forces and honor those who currently serve.
