As part of Memorial Day and National Military Appreciation Month, EveryMind is proud to partner with Like Neighbors on the 5,000 Meals campaign to honor service members, veterans and their families for their service to our country.5,000 Meals is an annual program that aims to provide fresh, chef-prepared "thank you" meals to military families being served by Fisher House and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). HIRE VETS NOW – Hiring & Networking Event – May 23

You are invited to Virginia’s HIRE VETS NOW hiring and networking event to share in camaraderie, professional development and career networking. Opportunity to connect directly with Virginia companies seeking to hire veterans and spouses. Bring your resume and enjoy networking in a fun, casual setting. A grab-and-go lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to active duty service members scheduled to transition over the next year, Guard and Reserve, veterans, and spouses.

Two Comedy Shows from ASAP this Weekend

Join the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) this weekend for two comedy events. On Friday, May 17th Join the Armed Services Arts Partnership's Comedy Bootcamp alumni at the Torpedo Factory Art Center as our veterans, service members, and military family members share jokes about the military, veteran, and human experience. On Saturday, May 18th celebrate the latest group of ASAP graduates at the Operation Improv Graduation Show.

DC Veterans Roundtable – May 23

This event connects the District's veterans with information, resources, and organizations that may be beneficial to a successful military transition. The event consists of an informal discussion which revolves around varying topics including housing, employment, healthcare, and legal services. Upon the conclusion of the discussion, any resource providers in attendance offer feedback on any topics discussed or how they can assist the veteran or their family in a positive capacity.

Become a Mentor for TAPS

500 current and former members of the military are needed to mentor children of the fallen at TAPS 25th Annual National military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp. This year's seminar and camp will be held May 24-27, 2019 in Arlington VA but mentors are needed now to sign up and participate. As a mentor, you'll be a buddy to a brave child throughout the event as they share and connect with other surviving kids and learn how to honor their loved ones. You may do art projects and play silly games. You may throw footballs and cheer them on in relays. You'll definitely create lasting memories and feel pride in yourself for the work you've done. Sign up today!

Survivors of Suicide Attempt Support Group

June 9th through August 4th at EveryMind in Rockville, MD. This 8 week closed group will be co-facilitated by two leaders trained in the Didi Hirsch support group model. Armed Forces Day Open House

Join the Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative this May on Saturday May 18th for an Armed Forces Day Open house Celebration! May 18th from 12:00 - 3:00 PM. They will have activities for the whole family, regardless of Military affiliation. This is a free event.

Arts4Vets Festival – May 17

Are you an artist, emerging artist or an art enthusiast?  You will find something to love at the 1st ever Team RWB Arts4Vets Fest. They're currently accepting Veteran submissions in all types of art forms for exhibit and sale. They are accepting anything from Spoken Word, Culinary Art, New Media, Mixed Media, Paintings, Photos, Sculptures, Performing Arts, and more.   

Chick-fil-A Metro D.C. Military Appreciation Day – May 15

All active duty military and those who have honorably served, along with immediate family, are invited to join Chick Fil A for a free Chick-fil-A Meal. Offer valid only at participating Metro D.C. area Chick-fil-A restaurants on May 15, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. One offer per customer.

Working with Military Families Impacted by Family Violence & Sexual Assault – May 16

The Fairfax County Domestic Violence Network invites you to join presenters from the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Family Advocacy Program to learn about Military Life, unique challenges faced by Service Members and their families, and the programs and services offered by the Military to address Family Violence and Sexual Assault.  Thursday, May 16 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at the Fairfax County Government Center.
