On Jan. 1, 2019, the Maryland Park Service will offer more than three dozen hikes on more than 30 state lands and parks, as part of a nationwide event sponsored by America’s State Parks. On Monday, January 21st, 2019, join the Montgomery County Volunteer Center as together they honor Dr. King's life and teachings at the Montgomery County MLK Day of Service from 1-3 pm at the Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center as well as sites in Silver Spring, Germantown, Gaithersburg, Olney and Rockville. Horses Help Heroes and Great Escape Stables will be holding an affordable family fun event and fundraiser on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 17620 Central Avenue in Bowie, MD. You and your family are invited to enjoy pony rides, arts and crafts, grooming, and treats for the horses. The gracious hosts are requesting a modest donation of $10/child of non-military or veteran families and $5/child of military and veteran families.
