Volunteer Opportunities at Promise Landing Farm
Promise Landing Farm is holding their first volunteer orientation and training at their facility in Upper Marlboro, MD on Wednesday, December 11th from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Military, Veterans and family members interested in volunteering with the horses at the farm are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP and complete a volunteer form prior to attending.
Emotional Grit Workshop Dec 14
Join The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals and the American Red Cross on Saturday, 12/14 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for a Holiday Ornament and Emotional Grit Workshop. Veterans and military families will learn how to understand the many emotions that come with challenges and transitions while painting beautiful holiday ornaments for the whole family! This workshop will help participants recognize when behaviors, thoughts and feelings are manageable and when they could be signs or symptoms of depression. Registration is requested.
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day Nov 26
Each year, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention supports hundreds of large and small Survivor Day events around the world, in which suicide loss survivors come together to find connection, understanding and hope through their shared experience. Join them at the Columbia, MD event on Saturday, November 23rd from 1:00-4:00 PM. The event features an AFSP-produced documentary that offers a message of growth, resilience and connection.

This workshop address the anger that can occur when service members, veterans and military families undergo stress. This is a free and confidential program that offers ways to work through challenges and build skills through small-group discussions and hands-on activities. Registration requested.
Fall Fitness Festival
Join The Fitness Equation for the first annual Fall Fitness Festival Charity Event Benefiting Headstrong: Healing the Hidden Wounds of War. Saturday, September 28th, 10am - 2pm at 43360 Defender Drive, Chantilly VA. TFE South Riding, will open its doors to the public for a FREE Day For All! There will be fitness classes going on every half hour outside and inside the gym from Bootcamp, Zumba, Yoga and more! Many contests will take place like Strong Man, Ninja Warrior, Tug of War and a basketball free throw contest! Join Northern Virginia Veterans Association for the most scrumptious Pork BBQ in the region! Along with some of the best Veteran-Owned Craft Brews and live music by Rip Tide this will be an amazing time at American Legion Post 28 in Triangle, Virginia. Saturday, October 5th from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Bring the family to enjoy more than the BBQ and Beer, there will be other fun foods and drink and a kids zone for the younger ones. Veteran vendors will be around to share their services and wares, and with the fantastic weather planned you can't beat this for an awesome Saturday afternoon in October!

Join the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring MD for two workshops on Saturday, September 28th. Connecting with Kids Workshop facilitated by the American Red Cross helps service members, veterans and families build on their person strengths to help children through challenges and transitions. 9/28 from 9-10 AM. The Art With Heart Workshop for all ages is a monthly program using art which is proven to be therapeutic for the mind, body and soul. 9/28 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Registration is recommended.
Songwriting Workshop Series for Military Kids
Join Hylton Performing Arts Center for a 6-week series designed for military kids and teenagers where they will learn songwriting skills in a collaborative environment. This workshop series is FREE and open to military kids between the ages of 10 and 17. Space is limited.
