Family Fun Day in Baltimore with CSX & Blue Star Families – July 13
CSX and Blue Star Families are launching a new CSX Blue Star Community right here in Baltimore to bridge the divide between the civilian and military communities and better serve local military families. In celebration of the launch, CSX and BSF will be hosting a kickoff event—a family picnic at the B&O Museum, featuring a train ride, exclusive photos with the special CSX Pride in Service locomotives, and so much more! Free Baseball Tickets for Frederick Keys July 3rd Game
Join Coalition to Salute America's Heroes on July 3rd at Stars and Stripes Night with the Frederick Keys vs. the Lynchburg Hillcats. The Stars and Stripes night at the ballpark will feature special military and veteran programming including Fireworks, Patriotic Hat Auction, and Fundraising for Heroes. Art and MindBody Skills at The Cohen Clinic
On June 22nd the Steven A Cohen Military and Family Clinic is offering two free workshops to military, veterans and their families. Join them for Mind-Body Skills Workshop facilitated by the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces, 6/22 from 9:00-10:00am and Art with Heart Workshop, 6/22 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Registration is required.
Free Screening of Superpower Dogs This Weekend
Surf Dog Ricochet and Staff Sergeant Persons B. Griffith IV (Ret) will be traveling from San Diego, CA to Washington DC, MD and VA for June 22nd and 23rd showings of the IMAX film, Superpower Dogs, as well as a free presentation on the “Healing Power of Dogs in the Treatment of PTSD”. There will also be a free showing for the military community and their families. Regular showings requiring paid tickets are an option too. There will be Q&A sessions, and moviegoers can interact with Ricochet before, during and after the film with plenty of photo opportunities. June 22nd Triangle, VA and June 23rd in Washington DC. Convoy of Hope Community Event
The Convoy of Hope Community event will be held Saturday, June 1 in Woodbridge, VA. Hope Starts Here in your city, your community, your neighborhood. The Convoy of Hope event is just the beginning of a long-lasting movement that has the power to transform people’s lives, inspire compassion and service and bring people and organizations together like never before. This is a collaborative effort to bring hope to a city through free groceries, health screenings, job fairs, family portraits, haircuts, prayer, activities for children and more.
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Free Admission to Military
For the 9th consecutive year, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Md. is participating in the national Blue Star Museums program to offer free, general admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their spouses/partners and up to three children from Armed Forces Day on May 18 through Labor Day on Sept. 2.
Become a Mentor for TAPS
500 current and former members of the military are needed to mentor children of the fallen at TAPS 25th Annual National military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp. This year's seminar and camp will be held May 24-27, 2019 in Arlington VA but mentors are needed now to sign up and participate. As a mentor, you'll be a buddy to a brave child throughout the event as they share and connect with other surviving kids and learn how to honor their loved ones. You may do art projects and play silly games. You may throw footballs and cheer them on in relays. You'll definitely create lasting memories and feel pride in yourself for the work you've done. Survivors of Suicide Attempt Support Group
June 9th through August 4th at EveryMind in Rockville, MD. This 8 week closed group will be co-facilitated by two leaders trained in the Didi Hirsch support group model. FREE Kayak Fishing at Lake Anna State Park – May 11
Veterans, Military Members and their families! Join Bravo Zulu Outdoors for some fishing at Lake Anna State Park. Largemouth Bass, maybe stripers, catfish and panfish are all available. This will be the first time they are having an event on Lake Anna and the wonderful Lake Anna State Park. There is a lot to do at this park for any family members that may not be interested in kayaking. Lunch will be provided after fishing. Saturday, May 11 at 8 am. Registration is required, limited capacity for kayaks. Volunteers are also needed!
