Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Join a host of government and community partners together as they offer assistance to all veterans and transitioning service members. This is a free event. Registration is recommended.

VA Women’s Health Transition Training

Tuesday, July 23rd at the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Montgomery County. Join AMVETS and the VA for a women Veteran-led training covering topics such as Transformed VA Culture, Range of VA Women's Health & Mental Health Services, VA Health Care Eligibility and Enrollment and much more. This training is for active duty service women who plan to transition to civilian, Reserves, National Guard or veteran status in 2019 or 2020. It is also open to any female veteran who has not enrolled in VA medical care. Registration is required.

NOW ENROLLING: NAMI Homefront Online 

Registration is now open for the NAMI Homefront Online Program. NAMI Homefront is a free, 6-session program for family, friends and significant others of military Service Members and Veterans. The class helps families understand what the Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life transition, PTSD and other mental health conditions.

Townhall Meeting Regarding Southeast DC CBOC

All veterans, veteran service organizations and veteran families are invited to participate in a Town Hall Meeting focused on the potential closing of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Southeast DC. Wednesday, July 17th at 7:00 pm. This meeting will provide insight on potential closing, clinic usage and how the closure will impact veterans who use the CBOC. Registration is requested.

Veterans Resource & Recognition Day

Wednesday, July 10th from 9:00am - 2:00pm at the Frederick Senior Center. Featuring Keynote Speaker: Colonel Laureen Barone, USA, Retired, Department of Veteran Affairs. Meet representatives of area agencies and organizations serving veterans. Visit the Mobile VET Center. Receive on-site assistance. Lunch catered by Palmtree Catering. Reservations required.

EFT, HeartMath & Mindfullness with the USO

Join the USO Warrior & Family Center at Ft. Belvoir on Tuesday, July 2nd from 6:00-8:00pm to learn short, effective Mindfullness, HearthMath & EFT practice; three powerful techniques proven to remove stress. You may reserve up to 6 tickets per family. Parents must stay with their children throughout the event.

Reeve-RxRelax Adaptive Yoga

Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services is offering FREE Reeve-RxRelax Adaptive Yoga Classes on Tuesdays in July, August and September from 6:00-7:00 pm. at Little River Glen Senior Center, 4001 Barker Court, Fairfax, VA. Yoga and mindfulness can be helpful for over 100 physical and mental health conditions. This seated yoga class is designed for people with mobility concerns, people with multiple health conditions and their caregivers. No prior experience, special clothing or equipment is required. It’s easy-to-do, effective, and a lot of fun! It’s free; but you must sign up to save your spot.

Art and MindBody Skills at The Cohen Clinic

On June 22nd the Steven A Cohen Military and Family Clinic is offering two free workshops to military, veterans and their families. Join them for Mind-Body Skills Workshop facilitated by the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces, 6/22 from 9:00-10:00am and Art with Heart Workshop, 6/22 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Registration is required.

Two Top Mountain Adaptive Sports Summer Programs

The Two Top Mountain Adaptive Sports Foundation provides year round education and recreational activities that provide healthy experiences for disabled athletes. They are currently accepting applications for their summer programs; Summer Cycling and Summer Sports Camp.

Opioid Overdose Response Training

The Steven A Cohen Clinic and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services are offering a free Opioid Overdose Response Training, Friday, June 28th from 11:30am - 1:00pm at The Steven A Cohen Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring, MD. Take part in this free training where you will learn how to reduce unintentional, life-threatening poisonings related to the ingestion of opioids.
