Mission: Healthy Relationships Couples Retreat April 12-14

The Virginia Veteran and Family support program presents a relationship enrichment workshop for committed couples who may be experiencing relational stressors to include Military Operational Stress perhaps from deployments, the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). There is no cost to participate in this workshop Hotel Room and Meals are provided.

Opioid Addiction Seminar in Frederick March 13th

Come learn about strategies to fight opiod addiction through new research and theory in counseling, drug treatment and human compassion. March 13th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Check in begins at 5:30 pm. This event is being held at Mount St. Mary's University Frederick Campus. Registration is required.

Veterans, family and friends are invited to the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center Community Partners' Winterfest event on Saturday, March 2nd from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at the Community Resource & Referral Center in DC.

Caregiver Resources Lunch & Learn March 21st

This workshop will cover resources for individuals who are caring for military service members and veterans. Topics will also include warning signs that a military service member or veteran may be in crisis. A discussion of resources will include Coaching into Care, the VA Caregiver Support Program, as well as State and Nonprofit resources. Presenter: Dana Burl, MA, Director of the Outreach and Advocacy Program at the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs. Thursday, March 21st 12:00-1:00 PM.

Suicide Prevention Alliance of Northern Virginia – Feb 25

The Suicide Prevention Alliance of Northern Virginia (SPAN) is a regional coalition of the Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax-Falls Church, Loudoun and Prince William Community Services Boards (CSBs) and other groups in Northern Virginia, that work together to raise awareness and share resources to prevent suicide.

VA Launches Welcome Kit

VA launches welcome kit to guide Veterans to the benefits and services they’ve earned. No matter where you are in life, the new welcome kit will help you use the VA benefits and services you have earned. In addition to step-by-step enrollment instructions, the kit also lists points of contact for dozens of VA program offices.

VA Women’s Health Transition Training

The VA has launched a pilot Women's Health TAP program and will offer courses on a variety of dates at both the Pentagon and Joint Base Andrews. The women veteran-led training will cover transformed culture of the VA for women, women's mental health & health care at the VA, eligibility and enrollment and more. Servicewomen planning to transition to Civilian or Reserve/National Guard status within the next year are encouraged to attend.

Operation Second Chance Mentoring Leadership Program

Applications for mentors and mentees for the Operation Second Chance Mentoring Leadership Program are now being accepted. The OSC mentoring program helps build mental, physical and financial confidence and readiness to transition back into civilian life. If you are a veteran looking to give back and support your fellow service members, this is your opportunity.

VET ARTS Connect Art Classes for Veterans

Free art classes for Veterans through Vet Arts Connect, an initiative of the Institute for Integrative Health. Three separate classes are being offered: Improv 101 for Veterans, Storytelling for Veterans, and Veterans Ensemble @ Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Classes are designed to improve your health and well being. Free to veterans and active duty. Registration is required.
