Coffee Connect for Military Spouses

Join the USO as they host a small gathering for military spouses to connect with each other while enjoying a cup of coffee. This is a great way to network, share advice, discuss local events and meet new friends. Coffee Chats are held from 10:00-11:00 am at the USO. Wednesday, March 20th Fort Meade USO Center and Thursday, March 28th at the USO Warrior and Family Center, Fort Belvoir, Open to all active duty spouses. Registration is required.

Hire Vets Now @ Fort Belvoir – Mar 14

Virginia’s HIRE VETS NOW, a statewide initiative launched in the Spring of 2018, brings together transitioning service members, veterans and dedicated businesses to share in camaraderie, professional development and career networking. Monthly networking events, held on military installations, expand opportunities for veterans to gain access to career openings with Virginia Values Veterans (V3) employers and Chamber members prior to transitioning from the military.

Caregiver Resources Lunch & Learn March 21st

This workshop will cover resources for individuals who are caring for military service members and veterans. Topics will also include warning signs that a military service member or veteran may be in crisis. A discussion of resources will include Coaching into Care, the VA Caregiver Support Program, as well as State and Nonprofit resources. Presenter: Dana Burl, MA, Director of the Outreach and Advocacy Program at the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs. Thursday, March 21st 12:00-1:00 PM.

Military Spouse Transition & Readiness Seminar – Feb 20

The Spouse Transition and Readiness Seminar scheduled for Wednesday 20 February 2019, will prepare spouses for transition from military to civilian life by providing information on Tricare and VA benefits that they may be entitled to; educate them on survivor benefits plan and deadline for accepting this benefit; employment opportunities, etc.

Dog Tag Fellowship Applications Are Now Open!

Do you know an entrepreneurial-minded service-disabled Veteran, military spouse, and/or caregiver? Through an intensive five-month program, Dog Tag Inc. provides participants with a transformative opportunity: an education through Georgetown University and experiential learning in our small business venture, Dog Tag Bakery. Upon completion of the fellowship program, fellows are business ready, competitive, and employable.

The Rosie Networks (TRN) and Blue Star Families (BSF) have partnered to provide the Military Spouse2CEO (MilSpouse2CEO) Program. The MilSpouse2CEO Program is an educational program designed to empower military spouses through entrepreneurship and expose the military spouse community to the concepts necessary to launch and grow small businesses. Join Blue Star Families for their 1st meeting for this 6 month program for Career Minded MilSpouse2CEO who want to explore their Entrepreneur side and drive their own career.

To help meet your wellness needs, the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation has a unique program, Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies, FREE-of-charge to qualified veterans. Eligible veterans receive a free year of coaching and access to fitness facilities courtesy of Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation.
