Veteran Spousal Support Group starting July 24

Virginia Department of Veteran Services Virginia Veteran and Support will be starting a Veteran Spousal Support Group every 4th Tuesday of the Month Beginning July 24, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Fairfax DVS Office (9990 Fairfax Blvd, Suite 120, Fairfax, VA 22030). Spousal Support Groups are facilitated by veteran family members and are designed to address the needs of veteran spouses and caregivers by providing a relaxed and confidential environment to share post-military and transition experiences with other spouses.

One Day Boots to Business | Reboot Workshop – July 26

Community Business Partnership will be hosting a One Day Boots to Business | Reboot workshop on Thursday, July 26 from 8 am - 5 pm at the American Legion Post 180 in Vienna, VA. Cost is FREE and lunch is provided. Open to all members of the military community, veterans and their families members.

FREE Yoga at the Cohen Clinic

The Steven A. Cohen Clinic Military Family Clinic at Easterseals will be holding FREE yoga sessions for veterans and military families. No cost. Child care provided. Free onsite parking and metro accessible! Space is limited. Register to attend the upcoming sessions!

DCA Honor Flight is seeking Volunteer Guardians. Interested in becoming a Guardian? Formal training is required. Next training session will be Tuesday, July 17 at 6:30 pm at Shirlington library in Arlington, VA.

Military Spouse Employment Summit – June 28

On June 28, 2018, Hiring Our Heroes will host its annual military spouse employment summit as we continue to shape the conversation around what it means to be a dual-income military family in the 21st century. The half-day summit will engage stakeholders, identify best practices in talent management for recruiting and retaining military spouses, highlight standout military spouse professionals and entrepreneurs, and set the stage for a renewed emphasis on removing barriers to military spouse employment as a national security imperative.

Warrior Herd Gold Star Kids Camp – July 30 – Aug 3

Project Horse Empowerment Center's Warrior Herd program will be holding a Gold Star Kids Summer Camp July 30-August 3. This camp is where kids develop coping skills through play with horses, expressive arts, games, crafts & team building! Thanks to a grant from VetsAid and a donation from Lockheed Martin – participation is 100% free! At Project Horse, kids connect in a very real way with others, with endless opportunities to build confidence, de-stress, and have a unique and memorable summer experience. Participants become centered in the natural world, they forge friendships with both horses and peers, learn horse handling and training skills, create and play games, practice teamwork and leadership, improve communication skills, and much more!
