VA administers 1 million COVID-19 doses, publishes facility vaccination numbers

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reached a milestone in just a month and a half’s time administering 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Veterans and VA health care workers. VA is reaching out to Veterans who are eligible for vaccination. Veterans who would like additional information can visit the VA COVID-19 vaccines webpage, visit their local facility’s website or contact their care team.

New Manager Position

EveryMind is hiring a Full-Time Manager with the ServingTogether program in the National Capital Region. This individual is responsible for working collaboratively with community partners (federal, state, local) to identify existing programs and organizations providing services and information to the military and veteran community in the National Capital Region.  The Manager will develop relationships with key stakeholders, coordinate meetings, forums, and briefings; help coordinate and oversee peer navigation services, coordinate community-based collaboratives, and engage existing and new service providers.

EveryMind hosted a panel presentation and discussion by representatives and elected officials from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC on the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019 and the many legislative and community initiatives signed into law on January 5th to prevent Veteran Suicide and increase access to community mental health supports for our military-connected families.

Join Vets2Industry and their partner Kohl's, for this event to bring military spouses the needed connections to resources, employment, and networking for their career goals. They will have a panel discussion with a group of military spouse entrepreneurs representing vast career industries. Also, the Keynote speaker, Elizabeth O'Brien will be motivating us by sharing how she's dedicated the better part of the last decade to improving the lives of military spouses by lifting them out of unemployment and underemployment.

TAPS Suicide Postvention Model Published

TAPS has published a peer-reviewed article in the field-leading scholarly journal Death Studies. Read “TAPS Suicide Postvention Model: A Comprehensive Framework of Healing and Growth" to learn about our three-phase approach to care that is beneficial to both survivors and providers in the aftermath of a death by suicide. This document is the culmination of a more than decade of care to thousands of survivors of military and veteran suicide loss.
