Affordable Family Fun and Fundraiser for Horses Help Heroes in Prince George’s County

Horses Help Heroes and Great Escape Stables will be holding an affordable family fun event and fundraiser on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 17620 Central Avenue in Bowie, MD. You and your family are invited to enjoy pony rides, arts and crafts, grooming, and treats for the horses. The gracious hosts are requesting a modest donation of $10/child of non-military or veteran families and $5/child of military and veteran families.

Charlotte Hall Veterans Home welcomed professionals from non-profits, local government, and businesses across Charles, St. Mary's, Prince George's, Calvert Counties and the District for 2018's final convening of the Southern Maryland Veterans Collaborative. The next meeting of the Southern Maryland Veterans Collaborative is 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on February 7, 2019, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.

Winter Wonder Landing Zone – Dec 9

The Academy of United States Veterans would like all military families to join their Winter Wonder-Landing Zone on December 9, 2018 at SER Lounge in honor of The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. AUSV plans to honor America’s heroes in a wondrous holiday celebration during what can often be a difficult time of year for those serving our country abroad. The party includes Red Capet Santa Meet & Greet photos, Santas workshop, gingerbread decorating station, holiday dinner, ugly sweater competition, and much more!

The Poetry of Memory Workshop November 17th

How do we create meaning from memory? The best poetry is written about what we know, and this class will look at how to successfully craft poems out of specific memories. This workshop will take place at the Capitol Post office (625 N Washington St. Ste #425, Alexandria, VA 22314) from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday, November 17.  There are a few spaces remaining for this workshop. The session is open to/free for all spouses of service members (active and reserve) and veterans. Applications required.
