Military Spouse Networking - Bethesda - April 11. Join the USO and Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals for a fun, fast paced speed networking session for military spouses in the Washington D.C. and local military community. April 11th from 10:00AM-2:00PM at 1420 Spring Street, Suite 300, Silver Spring, MD. Learn about the USO, the art of networking, create and practice your personal or professional elevator pitch and speed network with other military spouses, employers, organizations, and community leaders. All participants will walk away meeting new friends, contacts, and professionals. Military Spouses, Organizations, Community Leaders, and Hiring Employers are encouraged to attend. DC Hire Vets – Apr 4
In partnership with the DC National Guard (DCNG) and the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs (MOVA), the DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) will host a veterans' hiring event on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. The event will offer veterans, veterans’ spouse, and transitioning military members the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and connect with District, state and federal agencies, private-sector companies, and service organizations. The event is FREE, but registration is required. DCHR encourages advanced registration, but same-day at the door registration will be available.

Transitioning from the military to a civilian career is a real challenge, which is why mentoring and community support is crucial to the success of any Veteran hiring effort. The Northern Virginia Technology Council's Veteran Employment Initiative VETWORKING program provides transitioning military members, Veterans including student Veterans, Guard and Reserve and their spouses with a free career transition education and personal growth experience necessary to succeed in gaining civilian employment. Tuesday, April 10th from 5:00-8:00pm in Laurel, MD. An event to provide local veterans the opportunity to meet with businesses and non-profit organizations dedicated to providing services, support and jobs to veterans. All Active, Guard and Reserve veterans are invited to attend.
DCPA Military Psychology Conference – Apr 27
The District of Columbia Psychological Association Presents: DCPA Military Psychology Conference will be Friday April 27, 2018 from 10:00-5:00 at Chicago School of Professional Psychology, 901 15th St NW, Washington, DC 20005. This workshop is designed for Mental Health Professionals interested in learning more about military psychology and providing psychological services to members of the military (both active duty and veterans). Workshop participants will acquire knowledge in topics related to neuropsychology, women, resilience, suicide, PTSD in the military as well as transitioning into jobs out of the military to include the DC licensure process. They will also learn about the prevalence of PTSD, Depression, TBI, and other psychological issues among veterans. An introduction of military psychology will be provided by Dr. Jerry Krueger to start the conference. 6 hours of CE are available for this event. Cost: $75 for members, $85 nonmembers, $10 students, free for active duty.
DC Strategy Session #2
Join ServingTogether, the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), and community providers serving veterans, service members and their families in DC for Strategy Session #2 of the AmericaServes initiative. Friday, March 23rd from 10 am - 1 pm at the DC Mayor's Office of Veteran Affairs. During this community session, we are convening providers and partners to discuss coordinating care in our community. Our goal is to better serve our military-connected community members, and we will be discussing the AmericaServes solution in more depth. Registration is required.
