Veterans Curation Program (VCP) is accepting applications for their next session, beginning May 6th. The VCP is a five-month program that provides employment, vocational training, and technology skills to veterans seeking to improve their access to the mainstream job market. Interviews will be starting next week through April. 

Year of the Veteran Celebration and Resource Fair

Monday, April 8th 4:00-8:00 PM Howard Community College. Join Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families in celebrating The Year of the Veteran proclamation by our MD Governor with refreshments, music by Voice of Vets, professional attire/suit giveway, and more than 40 government agencies, nonprofits and veteran service organizations that provide services or programs for our veterans and military families. Premier Health Express Urgent Care, an authorized Warrior Centric Health Clinic, will provide medical and dental screenings. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Manassas National Battlefield Park Apprenticeship

The Manassas National Battlefield Park is offering an apprenticeship program for Post 9/11 Veterans ages 18-35 years of age. This program provides post-9/11 military service veterans hands-on skills training from NPS professionals, focusing on the maintenance and care of monuments, memorials, and structures in the National Park Service system. Apprentices will receive introductory training in a variety of traditional trades and will develop an understanding of historic resource stewardship while helping to preserve our nation’s historic resources. This program provides apprentices with marketable skills and excellent exposure to the historic preservation career field within the NPS as well as the private sector. Applications now being accepted until filled.

Friday, March 29th at the Army Navy Country Club from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Employer Panel Discussion at 8AM. Disability Roundtable Event – Opening Doors to the Future

Federal Hiring Process Workshop in Southern Maryland

The Southern Maryland JobSource invites veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses to attend an exclusive workshop presented by DHS/U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to learn about the federal hiring process. Monday, March 18th from 10am - 3pm at the Charles County American Job Center.

Capitol Area Food Bank Free Pop Up Grocery for Government Employees

The Capital Area Food Bank is committed to providing food for our neighbors in need, throughout the year and in unexpected moments of economic hardship. In response to the government shutdown, the Capital Area Food Bank is holding free pop-up markets for government employees and contractors affected by the shutdown. This Saturday, January 26th, CAFB will be distributing free produce, groceries and frozen meals outside of the six Giant locations below from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Please bring your federal ID or federal contractor ID. Additionally, Haymarket Food Pantry, a partner of the CAFB, will be distributing groceries and household/hygiene items from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gainesville United Methodist Church.
