Art and MindBody Skills at The Cohen Clinic

On June 22nd the Steven A Cohen Military and Family Clinic is offering two free workshops to military, veterans and their families. Join them for Mind-Body Skills Workshop facilitated by the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces, 6/22 from 9:00-10:00am and Art with Heart Workshop, 6/22 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Opioid Overdose Response Training

The Steven A Cohen Clinic and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services are offering a free Opioid Overdose Response Training, Friday, June 28th from 11:30am - 1:00pm at The Steven A Cohen Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring, MD. Take part in this free training where you will learn how to reduce unintentional, life-threatening poisonings related to the ingestion of opioids.

Maryland’s Commitment to Veterans Eastern Region Conference

Maryland's Commitment to Veterans would like to invite you to register for their Eastern Region Conference to be held June 25th at 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa And Marina. Topics this year include, military culture awareness, veteran benefits and as well as Opioid use in the Veteran population. In addition there will be a homeless services panel, and a panel of experts to discuss aging as it relates to veterans and their families. lunch provided as well as 5.5 CEU's for anyone who indicates their interest on registration. We host this event every year because our mission is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness and reduce the stigma that is often associated with mental health challenges. PTSD & Traumatic Brain Injury: Differences between Male & Female Veterans

This cyberseminar will take place on June 18th from 2:00-3:00pm ET. The Cyberseminar will cover: a. The changes in the role of the female Veteran over time; b. The incidence of PTSD and TBI among Veterans and literature on sex differences; c. Discuss the findings of sex differences from this study among Veterans with PTSD and TBI and how this may affect treatment.

Project Horse Empowerment Center Programs for Veterans

Project Horse offers accessible and engaging paths to wellness, post traumatic growth, reintegration to civilian life and family re connection. Programs are offered pro-bono to veterans and their families. Located in Purcellville, Virginia in Loudoun County.

The Mile Study Seeks Veteran Voices

George Washington University and the University of Bath have joined forces to conduct a study to explore post-9/11 Veteran stories and how their experiences, especially decisions those made in high stake situations, may impact their health behaviors and long term health. The Mile Study is currently seeking veterans who are interested in sharing the stories of their experiences in the military. If you are a Post 9/11 Veteran, at least 18 years of age and who has had an overseas tour please consider contributing to this study.
