The Poetry of Memory Workshop November 17th

How do we create meaning from memory? The best poetry is written about what we know, and this class will look at how to successfully craft poems out of specific memories. This workshop will take place at the Capitol Post office (625 N Washington St. Ste #425, Alexandria, VA 22314) from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday, November 17.  There are a few spaces remaining for this workshop. The session is open to/free for all spouses of service members (active and reserve) and veterans. Applications required.

OSC Launches Veteran Mentor Program

Operation Second Chance has launched a veteran mentor program. The program is designed to ensure the mental, physical and financial readiness of veterans and their families post separation or retirement from the military. Applications for both mentors and mentees are now being accepted.

ASAP Storytelling 101 Graduation Show – Nov 11

After weeks of creativity, collaboration, and hard work in the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) and Story District's Storytelling 101 class, Veterans, service members, and military families will take the stage to tell their stories for the first time. Join them for a powerful night exploring the military, Veteran, and human experience - all in the words of the individual's who have lived it. Sunday, November 11th at Drafthouse Comedy Theater (1100 13th St. NW, Washington, DC 20005). Doors will open at 7PM, and the show will begin promptly at 7:30PM. Tickets $10 online. $15 at the door.

Veterans Day Eve Eve Happy Hour – Nov 9

To kick off Veterans Day weekend, Capitol Post will host it's annual Veterans Day Eve (Eve) Event to honor our service members, military veterans, and their families at the Light Horse Fri, Nov 9th. Come join one of their most well-attended events every year and enjoy the live music and drink specials.  All are welcome.

A Salute to Women Veterans November 16

On Friday, November 16 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM in Cheverly, MD join Senator Chris Van Hollen and others for a forum to honor women who dedicated their lives to service of this country. This Forum will feature an update from Capital Hill and offer information on navigating challenges encountered by women in the military. RSVP required.

Veterans Invited: Veterans Appreciation Night Viewing Party – Nov 1

On Thursday, November 1, Navy Federal Credit Union and the NHL will host the 2018 NHL Veterans Appreciation Night Viewing Party.
