Veterans Day Field of Honor at George C Marshall High School

George C. Marshall High School's Class of 2019 will celebrate the Veterans Day holiday by creating a Field of Honor in front of the high school along Route 7. We invite you to support the Field of Honor and the class of 2019 by sponsoring a flag(s) to honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. For each flag sold, GCM will make a donation to ServingTogether and can send an e-card to the family or the honoree to let them know they have been honored with a photo of the Field of Honor.

The Wounded Warrior Experience – Oct 25

The Wounded Warrior Experience features inspiring stories of sacrifice and recovery from wounded veterans and service members. Hosted by Jennifer Griffin, National Security Correspondent of Fox News Channel, the program touches on issues faced by wounded warriors, the resources available to them, and their successes in moving forward in their lives. The program, now in its nineth year, highlights the importance of aiding America’s heroes during their transition from military to civilian life. Thursday, October 25 from 6 - 10 pm at William G. McGowan Theater - The National Archives (700 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC).

Career Workshop for Veterans – Nov 15

MITRE will be holding a Career Veterans Workshop on Thursday, November 15 from 8:45 am - 3 pm at their location in McLean, VA. This special event will include one-on-one guidance and group overviews that focus on: strengthening your resume, maximizing your job search opportunities, leveraging social media and networking skills. Healing Waters Frederick Event Oct 23rd

Healing Waters Fly Fishing Program has started a Frederick Maryland Chapter. Are you a disabled veteran who wants to learn more about fly fishing? Healing Waters is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active service members and veterans through fly fishing and associated activities. Come learn more at the Frederick Chapter open house on Tuesday, October 23rd from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Thank You for Your Service Documentary Screening

Join Hospice of Frederick County on Wednesday, 10/17 from 6 to 8 P.M. for a screening of "Thank You For Your Service", a powerful 2015 documentary by Tom Donahue that takes aim at the flawed mental health policies within the U.S. Military. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of community mental health resources. This is a free event but space is limited and registration is recommended.

Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture has two training opportunities for veterans who are exploring the idea of farming as a career, have farms, or are committed to farming in their civilian lives. The program is open to veterans, active duty and reserve personnel, as well as military and veteran spouses.
